In a stunning turn of events, the Indiana Pacers rallied from a 20-point deficit to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers 120–119 in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals. Tyrese Haliburton led the charge, delivering a game-winning three-pointer with just 1.1 seconds remaining, silencing the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse crowd and giving the Pacers a commanding 2–0 series lead.
Despite missing key players Darius Garland and Evan Mobley, the Cavaliers appeared poised to even the series, holding a seven-point lead with under a minute to play. Donovan Mitchell was spectacular, scoring a playoff career-high 48 points and adding nine assists.
However, the Pacers closed the game on an 8–0 run. Haliburton, who had been taunted with “overrated” chants throughout the game, responded emphatically. After missing a potential game-tying free throw, he secured the rebound and drained a step-back three-pointer to seal the victory.
The Pacers’ resilience has been a defining factor in the series. Their ability to capitalize on the Cavaliers’ late-game miscues has shifted momentum firmly in their favor. As the series moves to Indiana for Game 3, the Cavaliers face a daunting challenge, needing to win on the road to keep their playoff hopes alive.
The Cavaliers will need to regroup and find a way to counter the Pacers’ depth and late-game execution. With the series shifting to Indiana, the pressure is on Cleveland to respond.
